Privacy Policy

Catholic Prayers is an offline-first Catholic prayer and devotional reference app. It includes locally saved favorites and prayer progress, optional local prayer reminders, links to official daily reading pages, advertising in production builds, and crash/performance diagnostics. The app does not require an account and does not ask users to provide a name, email address, contacts, photos, precise location, or payment information.
Information Processed by the App
Information stored only on the device
Favorites, prayer-view history, daily prayer streaks, Rosary progress, novena progress, reading preferences, and reminder settings are stored locally on the device. Catholic Prayers does not upload this information to an app-owned server.
If a user enables a prayer reminder, the app requests notification permission and schedules a local notification on the device. The reminder may use a bundled bell sound. Notification permission and sound behavior can be changed in the device settings.
Daily reading links
The app may request calendar and link information from https://bible.usccb.org and opens selected USCCB reading pages in the device browser. Those requests disclose ordinary network information, such as the device IP address and browser or request metadata, to the destination service.
Advertising
Production builds use Google Mobile Ads. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and share IP address information, app and ad interactions, diagnostic information, and device or account identifiers for advertising, analytics, and fraud-prevention purposes. An IP address may be used to estimate a device's general location. Catholic Prayers currently requests non-personalized ads; this does not eliminate all advertising-related data processing.
Users can manage advertising and device identifier choices through applicable Google and device settings. Where consent or privacy choices are legally required, those choices must be respected before eligible advertising is requested.
Crash and performance diagnostics
Release builds use Sentry to receive crash reports, error details, app release information, device and operating-system information, anonymous session health, navigation/performance measurements, and related diagnostic context. Performance tracing is sampled. Diagnostic Session Replay is configured only for error sessions and masks text, images, and vector graphics. Default personally identifiable information and automatic console-log collection are disabled.
How Information Is Used and Shared
Catholic Prayers does not sell personal data. Information transmitted by Google Mobile Ads, Sentry, or an external reading website is processed by that provider to deliver the requested service, measure reliability or advertising, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with applicable law. Catholic Prayers does not operate an account database or advertising profile database of its own.
Data Retention and Deletion
Locally stored app information remains on the device until it is cleared by the user, removed through device settings, or deleted when the app is uninstalled. Catholic Prayers has no app-owned account or cloud record to delete. Information processed by Google, Sentry, or linked websites is retained and deleted under those providers' policies and user-control processes.
Data Security
Network connections use HTTPS, and the Android production configuration disables cleartext traffic. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, but the app limits its own collection and keeps prayer preferences and progress on the device.
Children's Privacy
Catholic Prayers is intended for a general audience aged 13 and older and is not designed as a child-directed service. The app does not knowingly request personal information from children. If the app's intended audience changes, its advertising, consent, store declarations, and privacy practices must be reviewed before that change is published.
Religious Content and Affiliation
Daily reading links point to USCCB web resources when available. Catholic Prayers is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by USCCB, the Holy See, any diocese, parish, religious order, or other religious organization unless separately stated in an official listing.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when app features, SDKs, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
